OUR WINES > RACHA®

Racha translates as “The Wind” and is one of the key elements of the great wines of Mendoza. The vineyards are located at the base of the Andes Mountains which creates a consistent and healthy wind to keep the vines dry and to intensify the flavors of the wine.

Our Winemaker, Daniel Gonzales, has spent 20+ years in Mendoza crafting wines of exceptional character and depth. The Estate Vineyards that are used are located in three separate districts but the majority of the vineyards are in Luján de Cuyo. This area is the district capital and is the historical center of the Argentina Wine Trade. The vineyards have been carefully tended to produce rich and bold styles of wine filled with complexity. The winery has been renovated in the past two years to maximize the flavors of the wines at the winemakers hands.

RACHA ESTATE VINEYARDS

TASTING NOTES

RACHA RED

This blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Malbec, and 20% Syrah is the perfect integrated wine to show off the power and elegance of Argentina’s Mendoza district. The Cabernet Sauvignon adds power; the Merlot softens and adds complexity; and the Syrah gives the round supple mouth feel. This wine was aged for 12 months in French and American Oak Barrels.

RACHA MALBEC

This estate grown and bottled Malbec gets the majority of its fruit from Luján de Cuyo in the Vistabla district. We blend in fruit from higher elevations in Consuelo to add to the complexity of the wine. This dark ruby colored wine has an alluring bouquet of cedar, fresh red cherry, and cigar box. On the palate it is a bold Malbec with a smooth texture, ripe fruit flavors, and no hard edges. This wine was aged for 12 months in American and French Oak barrels.

RACHA MALBEC RESERVA

Our Racha Malbec Reserva comes predominantly from a vineyard first planted in 1940. This old vine vineyard is producing fruit that makes for a very concentrated and remarkable wine. We aged this wine for 24 months in French and American Oak barrels. The Malbec Reserve has animated scents of cedar, tobacco, black cassis, and black cherry. On the palate it is sophisticated and smooth; leading to a ripe, complex and balanced wine, showing both power and elegance.
